This is a passion project managed by a world-class Sherlock Holmes nerd. It attempts to maintain a base for Sherlockian trivia that is (1) well-organized, (2) easy to access/free, and (3) contains all the information/sources one would like to have in one places. Basically, I'm sick of running into broken links, paywalled articles, and/or impossible-to-navigate websites. That said, this website was built with heavy help from the tools on this website.

I'm ashamed of all my social media. If you want to contact me, I am currently searching for annotated copies of Sherlock Holmes at your local library.

On the off-chance anyone other than me sees this, this is very much a WORK IN PROGRESS. Sorry.

The following is a description of the sections I hope to include.

CANON (THE STORIES)

GENERAL: A section for sites where you can find the full text of the stories, as well as basic information about the various short story collections and publication dates.

INDIVIDUAL: A section for each individual story. This will include-

  • Text: The full text of the story / a place where you can find it.
  • Characters: The characters included in the story and a brief descriptions.
  • Summary: A summary of the plot and the important events of the story.
  • Chronology: The publication date and debated chronology of the story in question.
  • Criticism: Literary criticism, reviews, and theories related to the story.

ADAPTATIONS

Note: Some portions of this section will likely rely more heavily on fandom wikis and the like. I don't feel like re-typing everything that 2012 BBC Sherlock fanatics have already written.

GENERAL: The history of Sherlock Holmes adaptations in general, including historically important adaptations.

INDIVIDUAL: A section for each individual adaptations that I have watched/read/engaged with. Obviously, will be limited. This will include-

  • Background: The history of the adaptations and its general significance, as well as the basic premise and any important features.
  • Transcripts: If there are transcripts available for the movies/shows on this list, I will put the links here.
  • Differences from Canon: Significant differences from the original stories.
  • Criticism: Literary criticism, reviews, and theories related to the adaptation.

FANDOM

GENERAL: The history of Sherlockian fandom.

GROUPS: Notable groups, as well as brief information about them.

PEOPLE: Notable scholars, and brief bios.

REVIEWS: My thoughts on work that is mentioned often. I know that this section is somewhat subjective, but I do not even want to try to create an objective section in which I list every single piece of Sherlockian scholarship out there. This will also have links to places that have tried to do just that.

IS IT TRUE?

One of my favorite things to do is fact check Sherlockian posts and legends. Did people actually wear black armbands to mourn the Great Detective's death? Did Jude Law actually call Sherlock Holmes a rom-com? Was that character definitely inspired by that guy? Even if I don't find a firm answer, the rabbit hole is lots of fun. Here, I keep track of my 'investigations'.

The characters in the original Sherlock Holmes stories, which I hope to organize both BY STORY and ALPHABETICALLY.
